Run-a-Muk Dog Park & Trail, Hiking in Utah with Dogs
Run-a-Muk Dog Park & Trail was introduced as an off-leash dog area in November 2014 in Kimball Junction, Utah. The trail is just under 2 miles round trip, yet dogs have the freedom of roaming the full 43 acre fenced-in field. The trail is located along the drive to the Utah Olympic Park, so it's a neat to experience to be able to hike and see where the winter Olympians train. The trail takes you through a few beautiful aspen groves before hiking through sagebrush. There is one small stream near the beginning of the trail, but after that you will need to bring your own water for the dogs. This trail is suitable for puppies, children, and those looking for more of a stroll rather than a hike.
From SLC, head East through Parley's Canyon on I-80. Take the Kimball Junction exit, then turn right. Turn right again onto Olympic Parkway. At the round-a-bout, take the 2nd exit heading towards Utah Olympic Park. Look for the dirt parking lot on the left side of the road. There are no restrooms available.

The parking lot can get full quickly. If there's not enough room to park here, you can park along Olympic Parkway on the side of the road.

When you first walk in the park, you can go right or left - doesn't matter. I prefer to go right, and walk in a counter-clockwise direction.

You can immediately see the Utah Olympic Park ski jumps in the distance.

Part of the path has stones to help avoid walking in mud during Spring run off. This is the small stream.
