Hammaka Parachute Hammock
Hammocks have become super popular in the last few years, as a lightweight alternative to sleep while backpacking, are used to simply hang out by a lake or river, at picnics, at ballgames, and the outdoors in general. So when I came across the Hammacka Parachute Hammock, I knew it would be a great fit for me.
Typically, hammocks come as a single, but since I travel with my partner and dog most of the time, I wanted a hammock that could fit two people or one person and one dog. Charlie is 70 lbs, so basically a small child lol. Since I know that Charlie and I can be kind of ruff (get it?) on our gear, I needed a hammock that was durable and could withstand the outdoor elements.
The Hammaka Parachute Hammock comes in a box just larger than my hand. It comes with a stuff sack, but no tree straps for actually hanging the hammock. This is a big downside since other companies include it in the price, however, I just happened to have tree straps on hand in storage. You could also use cam straps.
These are the tree straps I have. I love these because they are so easy to use.
The tree straps make for hanging the hammock easier. For the Hammaka Hammock, you'll need to buy your own tree straps since they don't come with a set.
This hammock can hold up to 450 lbs. Because Charlie and I go everywhere together, it's important that he is able to hang out with me in the hammock. It's also great to fit 2 people into.
If you plan on letting your dog in the hammock, be very careful of their nails scratching the fabric. It's very durable nylon, but I still like to be careful not to ruin it. The hammock stuffs into this sack, and when your hammock is set up, you can use the stuff sack as a pocket to hold a book, phone, camera, or water bottle.

The Hammaka Hammock fits nicely into any day pack or backpack. It will compress into a 6x8 inch stuff sack.
When stretched out, the hammock length is 8 feet long, and 6 feet wide. Perfect for 2 people! You could definitely sleep in this hammock. I suggest putting your thermarest in it first to create more comfort and insulation from the cold and wind. This hammock comes in seven different color combinations.
